Buttered pasta with grated cheese
The quick supper for children (and grown-ups): freshly boiled pasta with butter and plenty of grated cheese. Some prefer a drizzle of olive oil instead of butter.

Ingredients for 4 portions
- 500 gPasta, such as spaghetti, penne or fusilli
- to tasteSalt
- 4 tbspButter
- 80 gParmesan, grated
Method
- Bring a large pan of water to the boil and add salt.
- Add the pasta and cook it for the time on the packet, stirring at the start so it doesn't stick, until al dente.
- Drain the pasta, saving a little of the cooking water, and return it to the pan with the butter. Stir until melted, toss in half the cheese and a splash of the water if needed, and serve with the rest of the cheese on top.
