Chicken nuggets with mash
Frozen chicken nuggets – formitas in Uruguay, patitas in Argentina – baked in the oven and served with creamy mash made with butter and milk. A common weeknight dinner in families with children; they are also made at home from chicken breast and breadcrumbs.

Ingredients for 4 portions
- 600 gFrozen chicken nuggets
On the side
- 1 kgPotato, floury
- to tasteSalt
- 3 tbspButter, for the mash
- 200 mlMilk, hot
- to tasteNutmeg
Method
- Heat the oven to 200 °C. Peel the potatoes, cut them into even pieces and put them in a pan of cold, salted water. Bring to the boil.
- Boil the potatoes until tender, about 20 minutes.
- Meanwhile, spread the nuggets out on a tray lined with baking paper.
- Bake the nuggets in the middle of the oven for 15–18 minutes, turning them halfway, until golden and crisp.
- Drain the potatoes and mash them with the butter, hot milk, salt and a pinch of nutmeg until smooth.
- Serve the nuggets with the mash.
