Milanesa al pan – breaded steak sandwich with lettuce and tomato
A quick dinner in many homes: a freshly fried milanesa in a crusty roll with mayonnaise, lettuce and tomato. Make it completa with ham, cheese and a fried egg.

Ingredients for 4 portions
- 600 gBeef topside, cut into 4 thin escalopes
- 2Eggs
- 1 cloveGarlic, finely chopped
- 2 tbspParsley, chopped
- to tasteSalt
- 150 gBreadcrumbs
- 100 mlRapeseed oil, for frying
- 4Crusty white rolls
- 4 tbspMayonnaise
- ½Lettuce, in leaves
- 2Tomatoes, sliced
Method
- Beat the eggs with the garlic, parsley and salt. Dip the meat first in the egg and then in the breadcrumbs, pressing the crumbs on well.
- Wash the lettuce leaves and slice the tomatoes.
- Heat the oil in a large frying pan and fry the escalopes two at a time for 2–3 minutes per side, until golden. Drain on kitchen paper.
- Split the rolls lengthways and spread the cut sides with mayonnaise.
- Fill each roll with lettuce, tomato and a hot milanesa and serve straight away.
