Halloumi burgers with sweet potato wedges
Pan-fried halloumi in toasted burger buns with lettuce, tomato, red onion and sweet chilli mayo, with oven-roasted sweet potato wedges – one of Sweden's favourite veggie burgers. Ready-made plant-based patties can be fried and served the same way.

Ingredients for 4 portions
- 400 gHalloumi, in 8 slices
- 3 ½ tbspMayonnaise
- 2 tbspSweet chilli sauce
- 4Burger buns
- ½Lettuce, a few leaves
- 2Tomatoes, sliced
- 1Red onion, in thin rings
On the side
- 800 gSweet potato, in wedges
- 2 tbspRapeseed oil
- to tasteSalt
Method
- Heat the oven to 225 °C. Cut the sweet potatoes into wedges, toss with the oil and salt and spread them in a single layer on a lined baking tray.
- Roast the wedges in the middle of the oven for 25–30 minutes, until soft and browned, turning them halfway.
- Stir the mayonnaise and sweet chilli sauce together.
- Rinse the lettuce, slice the tomatoes and cut the red onion into thin rings.
- Fry the halloumi slices in a dry frying pan over a medium-high heat for 2–3 minutes per side, until golden brown.
- Split the buns and toast the cut sides briefly in the pan.
- Spread the chilli mayo on the buns and build the burgers with lettuce, tomato, halloumi and red onion. Serve with the sweet potato wedges.
