Pasta with frankfurters in tomato sauce
A quick, cheap weeknight dinner children love: pasta with sliced frankfurters in a simple homemade tomato sauce and plenty of grated cheese. Also made with cream instead of tomato.

Ingredients for 4 portions
- 400 gPasta
- 8Vienna sausages, sliced
- 2 tbspRapeseed oil
- 1Yellow onion, chopped
- 1 cloveGarlic, chopped
- 500 gCrushed tomatoes
- 1 tspOregano
- to tasteSalt
- 60 gGrated cheese
Method
- Heat the oil in a saucepan and soften the onion and garlic over a medium heat for about 5 minutes.
- Add the sliced frankfurters and fry for 3 minutes, until lightly browned.
- Stir in the crushed tomatoes, oregano and salt. Cover and simmer over a low heat for 20 minutes, stirring now and then.
- Meanwhile, cook the pasta in plenty of boiling salted water according to the packet, about 10 minutes, then drain.
- Toss the pasta with the sauce and serve with grated cheese.
