Ham and cheese omelette with salad
An omelette cooked in butter and filled with ham and melting cheese, with a lettuce and tomato salad. A quick everyday dinner in Argentina and Uruguay, also made with vegetables or mushrooms.

Ingredients for 4 portions
- 12Eggs
- to tasteSalt
- to tasteBlack pepper
- 1 ½ tbspButter
- 150 gHam, sliced
- 150 gHard cheese, sliced
On the side
- 1Lettuce
- 3Tomatoes, in wedges
- 2 tbspOlive oil
- 1 tbspVinegar
Method
- Wash the lettuce and cut it into strips. Cut the tomatoes into wedges and put everything in a salad bowl.
- Beat the eggs with salt and pepper in a bowl.
- Melt a teaspoon of butter in a frying pan of about 22 cm over a medium heat. Pour in a quarter of the egg and draw the edges into the middle with a spatula until almost set, about 2 minutes. Lay a quarter of the ham and cheese on one half, fold over and cook for 1 minute more, until the cheese melts. Repeat with the rest.
- Dress the salad with the olive oil, vinegar and salt, and serve with the omelettes.
