Pasta with ham and cream sauce
A quick, child-friendly weeknight dinner: strips of ham, onion and green peas in a creamy sauce, served with pasta. Many also stir a handful of grated cheese into the sauce.

Ingredients for 4 portions
- 400 gPasta, e.g. penne or tagliatelle
- 1Yellow onion, finely chopped
- 250 gHam, cooked or smoked, in strips
- 1 tbspButter
- 3 dlCooking cream
- 1 cubeChicken stock
- 2 dlGreen peas, frozen
- to tasteSalt
- to tasteBlack pepper
Method
- Bring a large pan of salted water to the boil and cook the pasta according to the packet instructions.
- Finely chop the onion and cut the ham into strips.
- Fry the onion in the butter in a frying pan until soft, about 3 minutes. Add the ham and fry for a couple more minutes.
- Pour in the cream and crumble in the stock cube. Simmer for 3–4 minutes, until the sauce has thickened slightly.
- Stir in the peas and heat through. Season with salt and pepper.
- Drain the pasta and toss it with the sauce, or spoon the sauce over.
