Tuna pasta in tomato sauce
A quick, cheap weeknight pasta with tuna in a creamy tomato and crème fraîche sauce, topped with grated cheese – usually made from what is already in the cupboard.

Ingredients for 4 portions
- 400 gPasta
- 1Yellow onion
- 2 clovesGarlic
- 1 tbspOlive oil
- 1 tbspTomato paste
- 400 gCrushed tomatoes
- 1 tspOregano, dried
- 250 gTuna, in water, drained (2 tins)
- 2 dlCrème fraîche
- 2 dlGrated cheese
- to tasteSalt
- to tasteBlack pepper
Method
- Bring a large pan of water to the boil for the pasta.
- Peel and chop the onion and garlic.
- Fry the onion and garlic in the olive oil in a frying pan over a medium heat until the onion has softened.
- Salt the water and add the pasta.
- Cook the pasta according to the packet instructions, about 10 minutes.
- Stir the tomato purée into the onion. Add the crushed tomatoes and oregano and simmer for 5 minutes.
- Stir in the crème fraîche and the tuna in large flakes and heat through. Season with salt and pepper.
- Drain the pasta, toss it with the sauce and sprinkle with the grated cheese.
