Greek-style mince patties with tzatziki and potato wedges
Juicy mince patties with feta, red onion, garlic and oregano, served with roasted potato wedges, homemade tzatziki and tomato and cucumber. They are also good made with lamb mince, or served with rice instead of potatoes.

Ingredients for 4 portions
- 500 gBeef mince
- 150 gFeta
- 1Red onion
- 2 clovesGarlic, for the patties
- 1 tbspOregano, dried
- 1Egg
- 3 tbspBreadcrumbs
- to tasteSalt
- to tasteBlack pepper
- 2 tbspOlive oil, for frying
On the side
- 1 kgPotato
- 2 tbspOlive oil, for the potatoes
- 3 dlGreek yoghurt, Greek-style, 10 %
- 1Cucumber
- 1 cloveGarlic, for the tzatziki
- 3Tomatoes
Method
- Heat the oven to 225 °C. Scrub the potatoes and cut them into wedges, leaving the skin on. Toss the wedges with olive oil and salt on a lined baking tray.
- Roast the wedges in the middle of the oven for about 35 minutes, until golden and tender. Turn them once.
- Peel and finely chop the red onion and garlic. Crumble the feta. Mix the mince with the feta, red onion, garlic, oregano, egg and breadcrumbs, and season with salt and pepper.
- With wet hands, shape 8 patties about 1.5 cm thick.
- Coarsely grate half the cucumber and squeeze out the liquid. Stir it into the yoghurt with the crushed garlic and season with salt. Chill the tzatziki.
- Fry the patties in the olive oil in a large frying pan over a medium heat for 4–5 minutes a side, until nicely browned and cooked through.
- Cut the tomatoes and the rest of the cucumber into chunks.
- Serve the patties with the potato wedges, tzatziki, tomato and cucumber.
